Create The Future and Our Classroom Climate collaborate to give away £900+ of climate resources for schools

For immediate release: 2nd January 2024

LONDON, UK: Today, Create The Future and Our Classroom Climate have teamed up to offer one lucky school an outstanding interactive science learning experience programme with a whopping value of £995.

In a very special giveaway to kick off the New Year, the two organisations are offering a complete Our Classroom Climate kit, aimed at Key Stage 2 pupils aged 7-11, to enable young people to visualise air pollution and explore the benefits of algae in purifying air. The kit includes a digital scheme of learning, mapped to the science curriculum, as well as an algal bioreactor, carbon capture equipment and a spirulina cookbook, providing hours of invaluable and enjoyable education for all.

Create The Future Co-Founder Emma Turner, said: “We are so excited to be partnering up to offer an incredible set of learning resources which will allow pupils to make something that is usually invisible – air pollution – more tangible in the classroom, and which will help them to develop more curiosity and explore the solutions to pollution in a safe, fun environment.”

Teachers from across the UK have until the 31st January to enter the giveaway competition via the Create The Future social media pages and website.

The school of the selected winner will then receive the full resource package in time for British Science Week 2024.

About Our Climate Classroom

Our Classroom Climate is a climate change education programme for Primary age pupils, fully supporting the national curriculum across UK and Ireland and is the perfect companion programme to the DfE’s sustainability & climate change strategy. It has reached many classrooms across the UK already, with Cardiff recently becoming the first UK authority to offer Our Classroom Climate to all schools as part of the city’s progressive sustainability and climate education offer.

The investigative teacher-led programme joins up the dots for pupils on the science of climate change: extreme weather, rising sea levels, biodiversity, the greenhouse effect, temperature, the carbon cycle, the water cycle, humidity, pollutants, and our human impact since the industrial revolution. It provides 4 modules with 24 lessons comprising 11 core experiments, and almost 100 activity ideas. The versatile resource can be used as a scheme of work, or divided into standalone lessons or exercises.

About Create The Future

Create The Future is a UK-based creative climate project that seeks to create a vision of a better future to empower action and inspire optimism through storytelling, education and imagination activities. Our work is based on the research of leading environmental communications agencies such as Climate Outreach and the Common Cause Foundation.

We run free activities and workshops for children, young people and adults, including creative writing workshops, poetry prompts, and school activities. Our flagship ‘postcards from the future’ activity, an imaginative art and writing exercise for children aged 5-12, helps to combat eco anxiety by encouraging young people to imagine the future they want to see and send a postcard back to parents, teachers and community members.
